Some would say that the PRS Silver Sky is the vision of a perfect double-cut solid body vintage single-coil guitars. Combining Mayer's preferred aspects of 1963 and 1964 instruments with contemporary influences, the Silver Sky provides the vintage feel of a classic guitar with the superior quality of a newly manufactured guitar.
This one just came to us in great shape, having barely been played, and it's an excellent score at this price. The original soft case is included. The guitar has been setup to player perfectly by the techs in our shop, and it's ready to go.
The headstock boasts PRS' trademark shape, inverted to suit Mayer's style and to ensure consistent string length behind the nut for easy tuning. Closed-back tuners with PRS' locking design ensure the strings remain in place. The tremolo bridge has Gen III knife-edge screws and sits flush to the body, with increased contact amplifying acoustic sound and improving the signal-to-noise ratio of the 635JM single-coil pickups, which produce a round, full sound with minimal harshness.
The Silver Sky comes with the option of a rosewood or maple fretboard. The maple fretboard option comes with the original 635JM neck shape, while the rosewood fretboard option has been subtly modified in the shoulders to feel more “rounded” in your hand. Both neck shapes were designed by researching vintage instruments and Mayer test-driving guitars on stage to find what felt right. The fretboard radius on both options is 7.25”. Other high-quality specifications include a bone nut, a molded metal jack plate, retooled knobs, and PRS’s double action truss rod.
All in all this is a killer guitar with incredible specs in excellent condition and comes with its original gig bag. The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly. This is a great score for anyone that is looking for an American-made Silver Sky in a super cool color on a great deal!
