Pre-Owned Thomas Trapper Deluxe Auditorium Acoustic Electric Black w Hiscox Case

Used And Vintage Acoustic Guitars

Here's a rare piece that we haven't had the pleasure of experiencing until now - a Thomas Guitars acoustic.  This is the first time that the winds have brought one of these in through the front door, and we were immediately impressed.  Beyond impressed, really.

Thomas Guitars is headed up by Tom Neal, a boutique builder in Illinois.  It's a one-man shop with modest power equipment, with his hands being the most important tool there.  From selecting the woods to polishing the finish, those hands do it, in combination with heart & soul.  It's what makes small boutique guitar builders so special and why a guitar like this one in particular is unique to itself.

The base is a Chris Trapper Deluxe, which is an Auditorium model, but the previous owner had this one customized to his own tastes.  The end result is a stunning looking guitar - and one whose sound lives up to it.

Featuring Koa back & sides, matched with an Engelmann Spruce top, this guitar is extremely expressive, and very well balanced.  The highs sing clearly without being harsh, and the low end is tight, not boomy.  There is an overall glassiness to the tone, with warmth retained.  It's also very, very comfortable to play.  The Honduran Mahogany neck and Ebony fretboard are perfectly finished, with a smooth feel and comfortable grip.  It was spec'ed out with special Stars inlays, which is a nice touch and great contrast against the black body and black pickguard.  This is a striking guitar, to say the least.

Acoustically, it's full of projection, but for when you need more on stage, this guitar can handle it - an LR Baggs Anthem system was installed as part of the customization.

The guitar is in excellent condition, and other than some finish scratches across the top, it's impeccable. The guitar has been vetted and setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.  It's all original, with the original hardshell case.

A Thomas acoustic is a rare bird, as Tom Neals builds very few guitars each year.  This is the only one we've had and may be the only one we ever have.  Come to Truetone Music to experience it today, or order right here to have it expertly packed and safely shipped to your home.
