This 2009 M.J. Franks dreadnaught represents the culmination of meticulous craftsmanship and decades of lutherie expertise as well as the combination of premium components and woodcraft. Constructed with premium Adirondack red spruce and Brazilian rosewood, this instrument embodies the builder's unwavering commitment to tonal excellence and material integrity. MJ Franks' building philosophy is centered on traditional design principles, superior wood selection, and precision construction.
This dreadnaught body projects confidently while maintaining clarity across the frequency spectrum. Built with an Adirondack red spruce top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides, this instrument excels across all playing styles—from fingerstyle to flat-picking and chordal strumming. The forward-shifted, scalloped bracing architecture produces a robust low-end paired with articulate treble response and an open, responsive midrange. The 14-fret body features a 25.4" scale with carefully proportioned dimensions—11.5" upper bout and 15.625" lower bout—yielding balanced projection and resonance. The 4.875" body depth accommodates medium steel strings while the 1.750" fingerboard width at the nut provides comfortable playability. The 16" fingerboard radius and features a comfortable neck profile. Stay in tune with premium Waverly tuners.
