Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Greg Fessler 60's Rosewood Telecaster NOS Natural

Fender Custom Masterbuilt Greg Fessler 60's Rosewood Telecaster

Fender built several instruments in the late 60s made completely of hand-selected rosewood. These were in production only very briefly and are now highly collectable on the vintage market. Jimi Hendrix reportedly had one of the first Rosewood Stratocaster guitars, and George Harrison of the Beatles used one of the original Rosewood Telecaster guitars on Let It Be and for the famous Apple Records rooftop concert in January 1969.

The Masterbuilt Rosewood Telecaster is once again offered here and is a meticulously crafted replica of one of the most sought after guitars in Fender history.  Truetone Music does a run of these every year, and one of them is always done by veteran Masterbuilder Greg Fessler.  We specifically order this satin finish version to be built by him, as he's one of the best.  We've been doing so for years, and every single one is perfect.  This is no exception.  They tend to sell fast, and it will be more than a year until we can get another.

For the specs, we kept it vintage correct, with handwound '67 Tele pickups, a comfortable 60's Oval C neck shape with just a little thickness added, a 7.25" radius, vintage frets, and Schaller tuning keys.

Also, it's important to note how light this one is: just 7.7 lbs, which is incredibly light for a Rosewood Tele.

Greg Fessler came to the Fender Custom Shop in 1990, working his way up through the ranks as an apprentice. He assisted with the Robben Ford signature line of guitars, eventually becoming the sole builder of those instruments and, later, Ford’s personal builder. Fessler has built one-off Stratocaster and Telecaster models for a host of players, including Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Healey, Hank Marvin, John Mayer, Rhonda Smith, Neil Schon and more, to name only a few.

Fessler’s remarkable abilities as a Master Builder have earned him accolades from many Fender artists and from discerning customers worldwide. His meticulous attention to detail is exemplified in every instrument he creates, each of which is a perfect example of the intense commitment it takes to earn the title of Master Builder.

This amazing example of a Rosewood Telecaster was built by Greg Fessler for Truetone Music - don't wait to grab it now before it's gone!
